Is it OK for the AP to publish pictures of people being raped, to highlight the problem of rape?

';Yes, and only if they offer a warning. But seriously, when people don't see the products of bad things, they don't take them seriously. That is why Bush had the bodies of war brought back at night with security and no media.

I see you have not been in the military. Those flights come in al all hours of the night. Bush didnt have anything to do with the rule of not allowing the media to make a field day at the families expense. That had been a long standing right of a soldiers family until just recently....

Obama Admin gave the go ahead to trounce on the rights of fallen soldiers and their families.

Then have the gull to act surprised when the AP news outlet dishonored a fallen soldiers families wishes....Is it OK for the AP to publish pictures of people being raped, to highlight the problem of rape?
My answer:

Yes. However, do you think media outlets would be able to do this in a respectful manner? Probably not. It would be abused and then banned again.

My commentary:

You're right about that. Bush Sr. started it in '91 but with exceptions. Bush Jr. got rid of the exceptions. Then John Kerry and Frank Lautenberg asked the Obama admin to roll back the ban. Their public reasons for doing so is probably best summed up by the following statement:

Ralph Begleiter, a professor at the University of Delaware and a former world affairs correspondent for CNN.

The fallen troops ';died for all of us 鈥?they died for the nation, they died for the cause,'; Begleiter said in a January interview. ';It's a right for all Americans to pay their respects for those who made the sacrifice. It is NOT a right held exclusively for the families themselves.';

-- Kinda messed up if the soldier's next of kin DOESN'T want media attention, right? I'd rather give them the option than have it forced. And I'd punch Kerry if I had the chance. Is it OK for the AP to publish pictures of people being raped, to highlight the problem of rape?
To highlight the reality of a situation maybe they should....Maybe some dummies out there will see it's not just women who ';dress provocatively'; or whatever....but in reality we know the question burning in your brain is about the picture of the Marine.....Yes those pictures SHOULD be published....And YES the recruiters ought to show THAT kind of stuff when recruiting....Life isn't a video game....there's not a reset button.
Yes, and only if they offer a warning. But seriously, when people don't see the products of bad things, they don't take them seriously. That is why Bush had the bodies of war brought back at night with security and no media.
What do you mean by OK?

Better questions bring better answers.

Ok meaning...legal? socially acceptable? OK with the FCC? By local obscenity laws?

Dude, by what frigging measure or value system?
Any picture of an American is a picture of someone being raped by the government so I don't see how it can be avoided.
Not in my book and they shouldn't have published the photo of the soldier dying against his parents wishes.
Why not?

It isn't insensitive to the victim or the family and it is a problem that affects us all right?

New rule!
I would say no; this problem does not need further highlighting.
Those kinds of pictures are hard to get. I can see it now: Just one more shot please. Over in the light.
Yes, sexy too.
